Who are they and why did their 737 just take off from LaCrosse? The local nuclear plant is gone and Prarie Island plant is closer to Minneapolis.

Aircraft seems to be based at KABQ so I’m just going to assume that Heisenberg is directly involved.

Can you quantify your level of certainty?

I can either know who is on board the aircraft, or its velocity. Never both.

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) is a United States federal agency responsible for safeguarding national security through the military application of nuclear science. NNSA maintains and enhances the safety, security, and effectiveness of the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile without nuclear explosive testing; works to reduce the global danger from weapons of mass destruction; provides the United States Navy with safe and effective nuclear propulsion; and responds to nuclear and radiological emergencies in the United States and abroad. (wiki)

.....

The OST fleet consists of two Boeing 737-400 passenger/cargo aircraft and a DC-9 Combi housed at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque. The aircraft move national security cargoes to NNSA customers and transport federal agents who conduct secure ground transportation. They also support the Department of Energy’s emergency response capabilities. ( energy.gov )

Very nice, thanks. It sounded like a big jet for LaCrosse.

Still doesn’t explain why they were there, but at least you know what they do. Might have just been a fuel stop.

Just a random guess, but does UW-LaCrosse have a substantial medical undergrad program? Maybe some available focus on dosimetry? Could be as simple as medical-grade radiology  material being unaccounted for or improperly disposed of.

La Crosse is still technically being decommissioned , scheduled for completion this year. So maybe some final testing procedures.

Or, like I said, they are crop dusting the mid- west with ‘ nucular alu-minium partikles’.

Hadn’t heard about the reactor, so that makes a lot of sense. I wonder also if that jet has sniffer gear on it.

Interesting question. Maybe not the UW, but just down the street is the 8th or so largest medical clinic in the US......
